2022 'She Can' Public Welfare Project Kicks off in Chengdu

The 2022 "She Can" adolescent health education public welfare project was launched in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan Province, on November 8.

In her speech during the launch ceremony, Yang Juan, President of Sichuan Women's Federation, said that the "She Can" public welfare project was a concrete action to respond to the call of Professor Peng Liyuan, special envoy for the Spring Bud Project to promote girls' education in China, and to promote the implementation of the Spring Bud Project — Dream of Future Action.
Yang stressed that Sichuan Women's Federation will grasp the opportunities brought by the launch of the project to fulfill its duties, help more adolescent girls and their families benefit from it, and work together with all social forces to build a favorable environment for their all-round development.

Noting that the Party and the country have always attached great importance to the cause of children, Wang Haijing, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Children and Teenagers' Fund (CCTF), said that the CCTF launched the "She Can" project in collaboration with Kotex, a leading feminine care product brand under the US-based Kimberly-Clark, to implement the guiding principles of important instructions made by Chinese President Xi Jinping, act on the proposals of Professor Peng to pool the strength of the public in the education of girls, conduct adolescent health education, help school girls better address all types of problems in their adolescence, and to safeguard their healthy growth.
Yang called on more enterprises to take part in girls-oriented charitable activities, show full support to their education and development, and become guides for children's growth, guardians for their rights and interests, and builders for their futures.
Jiang Wen, Deputy Party Secretary of National Center for Mental Health (NCMH), said that the mental health of children and teenagers is a major public health issue that draws global attention, and that the NCMH will continue to intensify its efforts to promote adolescent mental health and build a secure and healthy living environment for children and teenagers.
A representative of Kimberly-Clark China said that Kotex is committed to providing services for women to help them stay healthy and confident in their period, and that its participation in the project is expected to help more school girls gain more adolescent knowledge and dispel their confusion about adolescence.

Students were also invited to share their growth stories and gains during the ceremony.
According to the CCTF, since it was launched in November 2021, the "She Can" project has made the utmost efforts to distribute packages filled with sanitary products among girls, open online and offline science popularization classes for both adolescent girls and their parents, help school girls grasp more knowledge about adolescent health, improve girls' self-protection awareness and abilities, facilitate parent-child communication, and bolster the competence and qualifications of teachers and school doctors in safeguarding the healthy growth of the girls.

Over the past year, the "She Can" project has sent 300,000 packages of sanitary products to girl students from 1,000 schools in 29 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities. This year, it will deliver a further 100,000 packages to middle school girls nationwide.
It will also carry out activities to care for disadvantaged adolescent girls in remote areas, former revolutionary bases, rural regions and ethnic minority areas, support rural revitalization, and assist more adolescent girls in their healthy growth through diverse charitable initiatives.
